This week at Canadian Martyrs

Dear Crusaders!
This week will be a very exciting one at Canadian Martyrs!

Monday is our Monthly Character Assembly when we get to recognize and reward those students who have gone above and beyond to demonstrate “Our 3 R’s: Resiliency, Respect and Responsibility”.

Tuesday is our “Halloween Spook-a-thon Dance-a-thon!”  We look forward to seeing everyone’s Halloween costume (no masks or props please) or everyone wearing Black and Orange…your decision!  Please note, there will be no one in the office after school to pick up any forgotten costume items.  Thank you to all of those who have donated so generously to our fundraiser initiative.  Please note that for each dollar that is donated, you will receive a ticket for a basket draw.  These draws will happen on Tuesday and students will be bringing baskets home at the end of the day.  If community members received tickets on our 50th Anniversary Celebration, we will be contacting winners that day as well.  Also, please note that we will have some candies available for purchase during the Dance-a-thon for $0.25!  We look forward to a great day!  Thanks again to our Catholic School Council for their support in this initiative.

Wednesday is the day that our Grade 8’s visit St. Mary’s High School!  We are so excited for them to make the transition to high school this year.  We look forward to hearing about how our Crusaders look forward to becoming Eagles!

Thursday is a very special day at Canadian Martyrs!  The St. John’s Bible will be on display for our grade 4 and 7 students.  For more information about this unique and special book, please visit  What an opportunity!  Those of us that are looking forward to the opportunity can pray with this special book at St. Anthony Daniel Parish.

Friday is when the Crusaders will be scheduling their Student-Led Conferences for this year.  Please make sure that you are sending back the necessary paperwork with your oldest or only child.

Sunday marks this year’s “Sharing the Spirit Sunday”.  Canadian Martyrs staff and students will attend 10:30am mass at St. Anthony Daniel Parish, as we will wear our Crusader Spirit Wear.  If you would like to be a part of the choir that day, please see Sarah on Sunday.

What an exciting week this week!  We are looking forward to it Crusaders!

Sara Westbrook is at Canadian Martyrs tomorrow!

Dear Crusaders!

We would like to thank in advance our Catholic School Council for making it possible for our students to have a follow up session with Sara Westbrook!  She came to Canadian Martyrs last year to talk about our circumstances and our choices.  We are looking forward to continuing the conversation and diving deeper into our Character End Result.  What are we striving to be?  How will we get there? What gets in our way?  How can we overcome?

Looking forward to it!  Thanks Council!  …and Thanks SARA!

Canadian Martyrs 50th was a HUGE SUCCESS!

Dear Crusaders!
We want to extend our deep Thanks and sincerest gratitude for the many people that fought through the rain to get here last night.  What a great celebration of our school and what a great glimpse into the fantastic community that we are so lucky to have been a part of for 50 years!  Seeing so many faces from the past was an absolute honour and we were reminded once again that we are so blessed to be a part of this community!

Thank you to all who came!

50th Year Celebration is tomorrow at Canadian Martyrs!

Dear Crusaders!
We can’t express how excited we are to be celebrating 50 years of Catholic education at Canadian Martyrs!  Tomorrow is the big day!

Please ensure that your Spirit Wear is ready to go for tomorrow!  We want to see a sea of red!  We are planning on taking a picture of our entire population – staff and students – on our soccer field with a drone!  Wear red and get ready to be seen!

We will have guessing jars and a scavenger hunt for the students.  We will have an assembly and a treat at the end of the day!

Don’t forget to come back and join us from 4:30pm – 6:30pm, for a self-guided tour and a community picnic!  We will have food trucks out the front and lots of tables of items to be seen!  We have our graduate photos for every year from 1999 – 2017!  We have several photo albums from years past and a memory table commemorating the very special staff and students that have passed away.

Also, our raffle table will be out and anyone who donates $1.00 can get a ticket for a chance to win a great prize!

Bring your spirit wear, bring your smiles, bring your stories, and bring your donations!  We look forward to seeing all of you and sharing stories from the past at Canadian Martyrs!

See you tomorrow!

Canadian Martyrs 50th Celebration is a week away!

Canadian Martyrs Annual Fundraiser is in FULL SWING!

Dear Crusaders Community!

Our Annual “Halloween Dance-a-thon Fundraiser” is well underway.  On October 31st we will dress up in our Halloween costumes, or wear Orange and Black, and we will dance all day long!  Each grade level will have an hour or so to enjoy great music and show off their moves!

We will be collecting themed items to create baskets to raffle off!  Each dollar will earn you a ticket to enter a draw for a basket of your choice!

We will have many prizes for students, classes and the school…the more we raise, the more prizes we get!  Top earners may get a chance to throw a pie in the face of many staff members!  There are lots of volunteers this year!

Please know that this is our only fundraiser this year and, although we have been asking a lot, this money will go back into our school and directly affect your students.  Last year, we purchased gym equipment for each classroom to enjoy outside and we were able to bring Sara Westbrook here to talk to our students.  This year we have many other initiatives in the works and your financial support is much appreciated!

Thanks Crusaders!

Thanksgiving Food Drive is a HUGE SUCCESS at Canadian Martyrs!

Wow Crusaders!  You amazed us again!  Our community brought in 1366 food items to be donated to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society at St. Anthony Daniel Parish!  The parish was so thankful to get these items and we are so thankful to you!

What a generous community to be a part of!

Thank you!

Terry Fox was a huge SUCCESS!

Dear Crusaders!
A HUGE “Thank you!” to all members of our community!  We have counted the funds and we raised just over $5500.00 this year!  This brings our 10 year total to an amazing $55,000!  What an amazing community!  Many little acts of kindness can change the world!

Thank you Crusaders!
